In November 2013 Typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines. It devastated portions of the country.  More than 6,000 people died.  It is the strongest tropical storm recorded at landfall and is unoffically the strongest typhoon to ever strike the Philippines.  As news of this event came out, our International Service committee expedited a donation of $1,500 by our club to Doctors Without Borders for relief there.  These funds were matched by the government of Canada.
