![]() Around Rotary’s World Rotary District 5020 http://www.clubrunner.ca/portal/home.aspx?did=5020 ![]() Rotary worldwide is divided into Zones and the Zones are divided into Districts. Our District, District 5020, is made up of 88 clubs, 37 on Vancouver Island and 51 clubs in Washington State. Each District has a District Governor who serves for one year, July 1 to June 30. Our current District Governor is David Stocks, David is a member of the West Shore Rotary Club in Victoria. Our District is sub divided into 15 Areas, each Area having 6 or 7 clubs and each Area has an Assistant Governor. Our Area is Area 2A and there are six clubs in the Area – Parksville AM, Parksville RC, QB Sunrise, Qualicum RC, Port Alberni RC, and Port Alberni Arrowsmith. Each club pays dues to the District and this years dues were $50.50 per member. Our District is governed by a District Council which meets 4 times each year. There are about 4800 Rotarians in our District so if you do the Math you’ll appreciate that the District Budget is in excess of $200,000. The District Treasurer is Dick Sims a member of the East Bremerton Rotary Club in Washington State and Dick will present next years Budget to President Elects either at PETS or at the District Conference for approval. Our clubs representative on District Council is our Assistant Governor. The District 5020 website is a very useful source of information about who and how to contact District officers; about when and where clubs meet as well as Club Directory’s and Club contact information. In addition there are links to over 20 associated RI and other services as well as download links for Documents and various services. The District publishes a Monthly Newsletter which is on the website and as well the Home Page contains photos and stories submitted by clubs in the District (our Somali participation is still featured as one of the stories) Check out and browse your District 5020 website at http://www.clubrunner.ca/portal/home.aspx?did=5020 ![]() September 20th Meeting Birthdays and Anniversaries Guests ![]() President Allan’s Spotlight on Rotarians ![]() Allan focused the spotlight on Ken Walker and the members of the Rose committee who have been working over the last several weeks to get all of the “Rose Ducks in a row”. ![]() The Race to Eight has a winner and Ron has won Rotary breakfast for a week. Ron completed sales of 9 dozen Roses; Well done Ron Speakers ![]() Deb asked members to identify potential speakers. Give Deb the name and contact information and she’ll do the follow up. Good Speakers are an essential component of an interesting meeting. Membership Survey ![]() Membership Director Larry Mix thanked the 20 members who responded to the Membership Survey.
