The District of Cabo Corrientes is located in the State of Jalisco, Mexico, south of Puerto Vallarta. Economically, the State of Jalisco is ranked 3rd in Mexico, with industries centered in the Guadalajara metropolitan area. Cabo Corrientes District does not have an industrial base and is one of the poorest districts of Jalisco. It consists of small fishing hamlets strung out along 75 KM of the Pacific Coast. In addition to the fishing, there are small market gardens located through out the district, producing a variety of fruit products such as mangoes, papayas, banana and coconuts. Rotary has been active in the area with projects improving the Health, Sanitation, Education and Humanitarian situation. To date we’ve donated $500 towards this year and plan on increasing it to the $700 to $1,000 range.
