Roses from Rotary is the largest fundraiser and the biggest "elbow grease" event each year in our club. Is it too much?

It is too much work. We should reduce the size of the project and find other ways to raise the money forgone.

We should make this the last year for Roses from Rotary.

I support it and want to see it carry on as we have done it in the past.

Thanks to Ken's tech skills

Thanks to Ken's tech skills some Roses efficiencies including printing have been achieved, perhaps largely behind the scenes whereas the manual labour component during the last 3 days culminating in delivery have more limited potential to be streamlined.
One of the reasons fund raising works is the sweat equity component we can provide by volunteering our collective time, energy and some travel costs. Until we can find a less onerous replacement or two I think Roses is for most a unifying project that gets us together as a team outside of Tuesday morning meetings for a couple of days a year and is probably our most successful enduring single fund raising event. At the same time, we rely on a few long standing stalwarts such as Ken & Peter to make it happen year after year which reminds us of the need to have a number 2 for key roles as we can't expect one person to carry on a role indefinitely or in isolation and a succession plan seems appropriate and depends on willingness of fellow Rotarians to rotate in and out of various roles to learn and carry them out. More discussion is invited.....David
