I was born in Nanaimo on April 15, 1957, the middle child (3rd of 5 children.....note to Jean-Marc - to be a middle child, there needs to be an ODD number of children) of Clarence and Anne.
I grew up in a nice safe middle-class neighbourhood. The days were filled playing with all the neighbourhood children in the Woodlands area. Nearly every day there was some sort of sporting event going on. I played (I hate to admit it) soccer, baseball, and later on fell in love with football, which remains a passion today.
When I was 14, I bought my first decent bass guitar, a 1971 Fender Precision bass. Music is still a passtime today. One day I hope to visit the Grand ole Opry.
I have two children, James and Amanda, and 5 neices and nephews. I am blessed to be dating Deanna, and sharing the energy of her 6 year old son, Aidan.
I accidently found myself in the insurance business in 1980, when a fellow director of Footballllll Nanaimo asked me to come work for him. I opened Nanaimo Realty Insurance in 1989 and am the current owner.
I have been a Rotarian for 9 years and enjoy the fellowship and helping out the less fortunate. It is my belief that we can do our little bit to make the world just a little bit better. I am looking forward to many more years in Rotary.
