I was born in “ La Belle Province “ in a town called Ste-Germaine (Quebec). I grow up in a large family of 9 siblings. Been a middle child living in a farm was challenging sometime, but was also rewarding.
I graduated in 1976 from a survey and photogrammetry program in Quebec City. My first work experience was survey the summer months and mapping in the winter. I traveled all over the province doing survey to control photograph. In 1981 an opportunity of developing a mapping department in Prince George have me decided to move to the other side of Canada where they speak “English”. My only English speaking experience in that time was with the helicopter’s pilots, talking about where to land (with the help of a map in hand). So with my pregnant wife of the time, my dog, and all what we can fit in a van, we went for the adventure to the far west.
There I had two daughters; Julie and Danielle, I met my wife Holly and her son Murray. We did many camping trips exploring BC central and north areas. After the children completed their studies, we where looking for an area with a longer summer period to move in to. So after touring the area in the summer 2000, we decided to move to Qualicum Beach in 2001.
Here we started a new mapping company called Global Geomatics Ltd. Because a large part of our business comes from all around Canada, this location is ideal for us. We have two grandchildren in Prince George, so we are forced to back there time to time for a visit (we can not convince our son Murray to move in the Island). I joined our Rotary Club in October 2001.
