Life in a tent, one year along: Haiti

I am not sure if any of the tents shown in these photographes of life in Haiti are from Shelterbox. Who would have thought people would be living in them for over a year?

ShelterBox has white, dome

ShelterBox has white, dome shaped tents with fiberglass semi circular external poles from which the dome is suspended, looks much like an igloo with a Rotary gear on them about 8-10" in diamemter. Disaster Aid Canada tents are light blue, dome shaped but more angular using straight poles on the sides and a modest curve on top from which the tent is suspended and a similar sized Rotary gear near the door. No doubt there are tents from both in Haiti a year on, I just couldn't see either in the photos.
As a club we agreed to use the Disaster Aid Canada alternative with which QB evening Rotarian Norm Watts is associated as a director. I think our plan and budget for this year is to fund one such kit, something we have yet to do; Ken's posting of the Haiti website is a useful reminder we ought to carry out that plan. David Lavalley
