QB SUNRISE
SCUTTLEBUTT

The QB Sunrise Scuttlebutt is a weekly publication that highlights the activities of the Rotary Club of Qualicum Beach Sunrise.

Around Rotary’s World – Fundraising

Debbie joined the Communications table at this morning’s Club Assembly “to see what we’re doing about PR and Communication”. One thing led to another and we started talking about Fundraising; remember when Debbie was first introduced by Sponsor Larry; she was introduced as someone that had some success as a fundraiser.

Debbie described a successful fundraiser that she was a part of that sounded like a good fit for our club and for Qualicum Beach; here’s how it worked:
  1. It would work best as a Valentine’s Day event
  2. The focus is Champaign and Chocolate
  3. Either “finger food” or buffet type eats
  4. Musical Program
  5. Silent Auction
  6. They generated $33,000 from the event

    Rotary Moment

Allan chose Honorary Membership as his Rotary Moment topic. Honorary Membership is bestowed at a clubs discretion and as Allan pointed out, Royals, Political Leaders, National and International Celebrities as well as local movers and shakers have been inducted as Honourary Members over the years. Honourable Members have no official voice in club affairs, nor do they pay fees, however clubs do pay the normal membership fee to RI for Honourary Members in their respective clubs. Over the last few years we have inducted 3 Honourary Members the latest being Ian Lindsay.

    President David:
